Passport
Last October, on my 31st birthday, my passport expired. I’m pretty responsible, I knew not having a valid passport was eventually going to be a problem, but i’ve put off doing anything about it just in case I needed to use my passport before it expired. When you renew, you have to send them the old one. Then there were the incessant horror stories about the homeland security backlog for passport renewals and the straight up nostalgia factor of having to give up my record of ten years of travels.

Except now, Charu and Justin are getting married in Canada and although there might be a passport requirement grace period, I don’t want to risk missing their wedding due to lack of paperwork. Tomorrow i’m going to get my passport photos done and give up my old passport via snail mail. But before I do, i’ve scanned in a few of the pages from the past ten years. Visiting Yelena in Italy, hanging out with Sna in London, taking my mom to Russia and Israel, going to Amsterdam and Paris with Anna — and that’s just the stuff I remember. Here’s to the next ten years.
